French is known as "the language of love," and French culture is internationally recognized as a leader in the fields of cooking, fashion, architecture, and the arts.
Speaking French enhances one's knowledge and experiences in all these fields and can provide an advantage in the international job market. French is spoken in Canada, Switzerland, Belgium, and north and sub-Saharan Africa. It is an official language of the United Nations, the European Union, UNESCO, NATO, the International Olympic Committee, the International Red Cross and in international courts.
France is one of the world's top tourist destinations and knowing even a little French makes encounters with the locals much richer by being a participant in the culture rather than just an observer. French is a fun and beautiful language to learn and can be enjoyable for both adults and children. French vocabulary is found everywhere in English-speaking culture, from art and literature to law and government. Learning any second language requires study, but more than a third of all English words are derived from French either directly or indirectly so quickly learning a broad vocabulary is within reach of all students.
