Portuguese is one of the "Top 10 Most Spoken Languages in the World." Most people associate it with Portugal, where it is an official language (used by government for administrative purposes), and Brazil, where it is the national language (spoken by a large number of people in that country). Portuguese is also used in Mozambique, Angola, East Timor, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Macau, Cape Verde, São Tomé and Príncipe.
Many people have been exposed to Brazilian culture due to the popularity of this beautiful country as a tourist destination, and also through devotion to the sport of soccer. Knowledge of the Portuguese language can be a wonderful means of connecting with the warm and welcoming people of Brazil.
Brazil is becoming increasingly influential in world markets. It's economy is the world's seventh largest by GDP and São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro are among the biggest urban centers in the Americas.
